Better than that, a local for each neighborhood you happen to be in at any given place in that city. If your destination in a large plaza, being a slave to the GPS directions may take you thru a few "make a legal U-turn as soon as possible" prompts as the GPS is geared to street addresses, and not individual stores in a giant plaza. Forget custom wiring a power cable to tidy up. Always double check voice prompts with the display and follow the arrow on the display when she gets confused. Also this unit consumes large chunks of power, so don't go without plugging it in for more than 45 minutes or so.
Just unbelievable. My non-techie wife loves this GPS. It's like having a local resident sitting with you. no problem. I would have no qualms about driving into any strange city with this GPS. Example: Rented a beach house for the whole family for a week.
This great GPS got me out of Atlanta at 4:30pm the Friday of Memorial day weekend.Yes the interstates were virtual parking lots, but the live traffic subscription was an absolute marvel at re-routing me around the worst traffic jams I've ever seen in my life. What's wrong with the 5310.Sometimes the audible voice says turn left when she should have said turn RIGHT. One other word of advice. All these foibles are minor compared to what this GPS will do for you. One of our grandkids pressed the "reset" button on our 5310 and all our data when bye-bye. Also, don't attempt subscription or map upgrades unless the unit has been fully charged. Never had a lick of trouble from the unit. Also, don't let curious little hands hold the GPS unless you've backed up all the addresses you've entered.
You can read the specs for yourself. BIG deal. Car brakes failed and had to fix them at a strange dealership. Where the nearest bookstore. Also, I bought a hard-shell storage case with the unit and have faithfully kept the GPS in that case when not on our dashboard.
The OEM cord has built-in power conditioning and a fuse to regulate the power to the unit. The GPS took us there quickly. In my home city which I know like the back of my hand, it has shown me how wrong my assumptions have been all these years. Where's the nearest grocery store. Took the GPS in another family car for the 4 hours we were stuck. It took us there next. We went directly to each of these locations as though we'd always lived there. Customer service will NOT tell you what voltage regulation is in the cable, either.
But the display always accompanies every turn with a clear graphic arrow, and the arrow is always correct. OK, now back to pick up the fixed car. Only use the OEM car power cord for mobile use. Using anything but the supplied cord voids the warranty of the 5310. Then a Costco, then a branch of our bank, then straight to a nice restaurant we'd looked up. Learn to work around the minor flaws, and you'll be very pleased with this large display GPS.
Was a bit sceptical when I saw Windows CE plastered proudly in the back of the unit.Understand the 30-day map update guarantee well and make use of it if applicable. Does what it is supposed to do so. They are very particular about how they process it. Used it on a recent trip to the East Coast - it guided us quite easily and accurately. So far no lock ups or reboots. If you buy a unit and they do not update maps within 30 days of your purchase they don't owe you anything. This seems a little bizarre.
BOught as a gift for my daughter's high school graduation and she loves it. My husband has ione also and he recommended it for her.
Great GPS.Multi colors on the screen.large screen.good features such as resturant finder.multi route choices.and you can give verbal commmands and it directs you verbally as well. Has many other bells and whistles if you like to play with them.
I like the size of the screen and the ease of touch programming. It worked fine. I purchased a Roadmate 700 series from Amazon several years ago. I've only had it, about, a month, but am using it much more frequently than my old one. until recently. And that is why I went searching for a new GPS. It's much lighter and easier to install. (I have the bracket "velcroed" to an area of my dash so that it is concealed yet easy to refer to.I would recommend this product to anyone interested in a quality GPS.
